Sim, é possível enxergar o Divino no mundo.
Recently, in one of our study groups re-read the book called "TheBody of theGoddess,"by American activist Rachel Pollack. The work deals with the Goddess as She was not someone far away from us or an intellectual abstraction, but as a deity who emerges in our physical world and with which we interact through our senses, if only our perception and in turn put in place. Rachel shows us how the ancients recognized the body of the Goddess in their daily lives immersed in the landscape.
"If we accept that this image of the natural landscape embodies the Goddess, this will require first and foremost a human being toperceive it and honor it."
Rachel Pollack
The author, through the intersection of data from scientists and artists, provides an overview of the cult of the feminine from the Paleolithic to the present day, through the classical civilizations. His work is not conclusive as she points out, as the gaps in what we call the official story are great. And this History is mostly written in a partial (if not false) and made by the winners who tell their version of events. But reading opens the mind to interesting possibilities.
Looking at our city today and remembering the Gaia theory, I believe that this is a must-read book for Wiccans in general. There are no spells or meditations in the book, but its contents and possibilities offers reflections.
Natural alignment
Rachel shows, for example, astemples Cretanin present-day Greece, aligned themselves with the natural aspects around, where palaces were built on the mountain formations that resemble the silhouette of a gigantic woman lying down.
Or speak toartificial Newgrangehills, gigantic cave paintings of Lascaux and other monuments and works that intrigue us today. Current Brazilian mystical consider the mining town of São Thomé das Letrasthe Womb ofEarth.Another "navel of the Earth" is the Inca city of Cuzco.
Incidentally, the name Cuzco means "navel" in Quechua (see HERE).Interesting, no? The Inca city of Machu Picchu has several monuments which reproduce in your drawing the sacred mountains of the Incas.
My personal experience with the alignments and the mountains took on a trip to Ouro Preto. At the entrance of the city, near the road to see the Itacolomi Peak, located in the park of the same name, in Minas Gerais. For me the peak resembles the human face seen lying in profile. For the indigenous inhabitants of the region, is a mother with her Indian boy.
Then the interest grew from the moment we saw the possibility of Divinity emerge in the physical world, thus leaving the field of abstract ideas. And this physical world as it was in Athens is also here, Guarulhos, where we live or your city, wherever you live.
How to see God and Goddess in the World
Yes, you can see the Divine in the world. Not as we would like to, but as they really are. It learns what to do when we submit to the Wheel of the Year we see with the other senses besides vision and these signs are not translated by our reason, but by emotion. Contact with the Divine is with your heart first! You must feel before they think. And we see that this is in all its natural forms and the way we relate to them. We were like that.
We realize the city not as a place to live and work, but where we can live with joy and sacredness. A gigantic body of which we are part of living entities and throbbing, along with the machines, buildings, streets, rivers cars, poles, avenues.
This feeling grows every ritual open as we remove the concept of divinity of the book and put it in a time and space. The celebrations in the Bosque Maia make us gain a sense of omphalos, the center of the world, as well as Delphi was for Greece. Every ritual performed, the stronger the feeling. It has already commented on the navel of the world elsewhere. I invite you to read.
Often when we talk to God or the Goddess, we have to silence the voice to hear your answer.
Bosque Maia
Yes, it may seem strange that a place as prosaic can gain such stature. But what makes people and special things are time and effort we devote to them. And the Bosque Maia, with its small stream, its unknown cave of the Goddess, the amphitheater where we represent the divine drama of life and death of love, trees, wind and sounds of children playing, the memories of incense rising to heaven .. . are elements that form a beautiful picture in our minds.
And when we are between worlds, we do know with others in other lands and other times.
Yes, it is only the Bosque Maia. But it is where we all live. Yes it is only Guarulhos. But it is also the world as it is a piece of the universe where our feet are!
